* As a added service for our customers Rea Painting Services offers a free service call between 6-12 months to fix wall ding’s and touch up’s to the paint.
The warranty does not cover:
- Mold, mildew, and other water damage
- Damage caused by building shifts

- Peeling / blistering in customer-supplied paint
- If the original client has sold the property the warranty will not apply.

How do I request an estimate for painting services?
You can request a free estimate on our website contact form, email at reapainting@shaw.ca or call direct at (403) 608-3153. Either way, we would love to hear from you!
What should I do to prepare for the estimate?
It is best for all the decision-makers to be present at the time of the estimate.
We recommend that you:
- Make a list of all the work you want done for each room or on the exterior of your home.
- Have an idea of your colour scheme
- Identify your budget. We can tailor a proposal for every budget.
- The estimate will take approximately 30-60 minutes. Depending on the size of the project.
When can I expect my estimate?
In most cases, we provide you with a printed or emailed proposal within a day of the on-site estimate, the price includes all material and labor costs.
What should I do to prepare for the painting after we agree to the estimate?
Prior to your painting service, we ask that you move fragile or breakable items-for example, pictures, glassware, and electronic devices-when possible. We can move furniture and even a wall-mounted TV if needed as an add-on service.
How long will it take for the work to begin?
Generally, one to three weeks after the estimate is excepted and colours are selected. We will always try to accommodate your timeline.
What type of paint do you use?
At REA Painting Services we work with multiple suppliers including Sherwin Williams® and Benjamin Moore® or we can use any brand you prefer.
How will the paint be applied?
While each job varies, a combination of brush and roll is typically used to paint walls, ceilings, and trim. For exteriors and cabinets it is common to use spraying. Each project will be evaluated and at that time we can recommend which would be the best for your application.

Do I need primer?
Do I need primer?
No need for primer unless you’re painting a light colour over a dark one, the walls are badly stained, or the walls are marked up with spackle from patching. In these situations, a primer will help create a consistent, neutral surface that your paint will adhere to evenly.
Shake the cans!
Shake the cans!
Even if you have had your paint for awhile, ask your paint dealer to shake the cans on his automatic mixing machine. It’ll reduce the amount you have to stir and ensure that the paint colour is totally mixed.

Need to leave and no time to clean?
If you must leave a paint brush for a short time and don't want to clean it, wrap it in a foil or a plastic bag to keep it soft and pliable. Put it in the fridge and you can save it for a long time.

Paint doesn't stick very well to dirty walls, so clean them with soap and water (or TSP) and rinse with water once done. Let dry overnight.
Prevent sticky doors!

The next time you repaint a door, first sand the edges well. Otherwise the added layer of paint may make the door stick in the frame after the paint dries.

Rub cream into your hands and arms before you begin a paint or wallpaper job. Paint and paste will come off much easier when you wash up with soap and warm water.
What not to do when painting!
What not to do when painting!
Don’t apply a second coat of paint before the first one has dried or you’ll end up with an “alligatoring” wall that looks like it sounds.
Don’t apply paint over a greasy, dirty, or damp surface or it will peel.
Don’t apply a paint too thickly or it will wrinkle when it dries.
Don’t go over paint that's dry--it will leave a defect.
Need to use primer?
Need to use primer?
When you need a primer coat (usually white) and you’ve chosen a dark finish color, add a bit of the finish paint to the primer. The final coat will cover much better.
